RFPs

How are my fellow agency owners responding to RFPs these days? are you more aggressively pursuing them? backing off? are you doing more spec work or less? how is the economy and our clients making some significant changes to how you're doing business?

EMG is constantly being asked to do "free" work and share "high level ideas." I just cannot, at least at this point, bring myself to compromise my principles and my stock and trade at no charge for some "veiled promise" at possible future business. If we give it away, we're all going to be in serious trouble.

Thoughts?

  1. It's nice to hear that we aren't the only firm being asked to do work for free or to do a lot of work for not a lot of money. We always get asked that, but I feel we are being asked more frequently than before which is obviously a result of the economy. We are pursuing RFPs, but I always wonder how much work we need to do too. What are you doing?

I refuse to compromise my principles too - unless of course, I think the client will refer future business to us.
